Central Cyclades 14 nights Superior

Overview

The name Cyclades probably derives from the circle these islands form around the ancient, sacred island of Delos, birthplace of the God Apollo. It is quite reasonable to say that the Central Cyclades are in our opinion the most satisfying archipelago for island hopping. The reasons for this are many, not least the excellent and frequent transport connections between these islands. The concentrated cluster of these islands may lead one to believe they share the same characteristics, but not a bit of it. Each has its own distinct traditions and customs and the level of tourism varies widely so déjà vu is not really a problem for the visitor.

Common to all is the blinding-white Cubist architecture and rocky, rather arid scenery. However, even these typical traits are offset by a myriad of variations, be they the verdant valleys of Naxos or the blue-domed churches and ship-owners neo-classical mansions on Santorini.
