Apollon Village, once Villa Apollon, sits above the sandy, tamarisk-shaded beach at Klissidi. It has been run by the same family for a long time and it is small: rooms, studios and apartments in the low dozens rather than a block. On an island whose entire accommodation stock would fit inside one mid-sized hotel elsewhere in the Cyclades, that is unremarkable, and it is the reason people come back.
The beach is three to ten minutes below, depending on which building you are in, down a path steep enough to notice on the way back up in the afternoon. Immediately around there is a taverna near the sand and not much else, which is the character of the place rather than a shortcoming.
What is within walking distance
The coastal path to the port at Agios Nikolaos takes about twenty minutes. Chora, the hilltop town, is a thirty-minute walk with the views that come with the climb, or a short ride on the island bus, which stops close by. East along the coast are the beaches that make Anafi worth the crossing: Katalimatsa, then the dune-backed sand at Roukounas, then Monastiri, each further than the last and each emptier for it.
